As a team parent, you play a very important role in our organization. This will be a very busy job and we appreciate you. All volunteers (coaches, team parents, monitors, etc.) must have background checks. click here for more information.
Beginning in 2009, we have made some changes to the way that we communicate with the organization. 1) Website - we have invested heavily in creation of a new website. Information is being added daily. Everyone should check for updates daily. 2) Mass Emails - Information that needs to be distributed to the entire organization or a large group of people will be sent out through our roster database. Everyone gets the same information, at the same time. 3) App- Sports Signup App
You are a communication point to the parents. As such, they see you as one of the faces of our organization. We count on your positive and enthusiastic representation.
Duties:
Team Support: Your head coach is counting on you to help keep the team activities organized. Each coach has their preferred way of dealing with some items. Some of the things your coach may ask you to do (please be sure you understand the Pop Warner rules)
Organize team drinks & snacks
Organize team events such as end of year team party
Set up a call tree for notifying players & families of changes in schedules etc.
Communications: For the most part, you will only need to handle email communications specific to your team. We hope that our new processes will help ease your email responsibilities (and reduce the numbers of emails going around the organization). Encourage your parents to check their email daily.
Fund Raising: You will be a primary point of contact for distribution and collection of fundraising materials. Your encouragement of the players and families is vital. Constant contact will help them be successful.
Volunteer Coordination: You will be responsible for organizing volunteer representation from your team. You will be provided with a schedule of required volunteers. Every parent is expected to participate equally. Only exceptions are coaches, coach spouses, and board members. (They already have significant volunteer assignments).
Extended Season: In the event your team progresses to the extended season play, you will become a vital link between coaches, directors, and parents for travel coordination and logisitics communication etc.
Issue Resolution: It is not your job to handle issues involving players and coaches. We encourage parents and coaches to have direct dialogue. Significant issues should be directed to either the head coach, football or cheer director, or the athletic director. We have a detailed process for handling concerns. click here for more information.
